![]() ![]() 2- that series' DNA is very apparent, especially in Volga. Exodus' "open zones" were very much influenced by many staff from GSC joining the team after the 1st cancellation of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The book ends with Artyom and Anna basically going into self-exile to drive East to find a new life.ĤA games chose to portray the Spartans as much more independent-minded to give Artyom a travelling group, and overall the game has a much more hopeful tone than Glukhovsky's message in the booksĪs a game, Exodus is a real evolution of the ideas that 4A were already building on in Last Light- the highlight of that game was the open-ish swamp area where you could get mutants to fight each other while you tried to start up a boat. THIS MEANS WE MUST HIDE" and basically enforces an omerta and censors Artyom's discovery- if people are allowed to leave the Metro, they will eventually let the rest of the world know the Russians in Moscow survived, and then someone will come to finish the job. The Miller, and pretty much everyone else immediately reverts to wartime mentality "if we are alive, that means the enemy is as well!. In the book, Artyom reveals to the Metro about the existence of the world outside. big spoiler for the book and minor for the game: Exodus starts off with some of the events that happen in the climax of "2035", but then goes in a very different direction. 2034 gives a lot of references to the "struggle for the bunker", but the actual events of it take place elsewhere in the metro, in the aftermath, and deal with a different character altogether.Īnd Exodus. Last Light deals with events that the books refer to, but do not actually describe. before ultimately doing the Tower thing anyway. ![]() Then there's a pint where the plots bifurcate (sometime after you get your exposure to the Reds and Nazis)- in the books, Artyom spends a while getting the lowdown from both sides about their respective ideology, and then finds himself dealing with The Worm, which is smth that the game cut entirely. There's a reason for that- the beginning of the book is written like an RPG campaign. ![]() I read the entire trilogy (in Russian) prior to playing the games.Ģ033 starts off following the plot of the 2033 book verbatim. The relationship b/w the books and the games is a bit odd. Will play Exodus sometime, I was so excited when it was revealed but just never got around to it after launch. But I did run into a small handful of situations where I had to pick my shots carefully and often focused on stealth which helped keep my clips full. Last Light was even easier iirc than 2033 in this regard. Outside a few encounters, it was very manageable, ammo was still plentiful and it wasn’t too often I had to be concerned over wasting currency to survive, not as much as I was led to believe, but I did scavenge each area which gave plenty of resources yo survive and get most upgrades. I sort of remember the journey to its different endings felt more natural and reasoned as one example.īut I greatly enjoyed each and player on the hardest difficulty possible(Ranger Classic?). It’s been way too long to recall specific reasonings, but I recall feeling that I just preferred 2033. I played 2033 and Last Light back to back and liked both, but felt 2033 was stronger with its plotting and design, but only by a bit. Played and enjoyed both 2033 and LL but haven’t touched Exodus yet. I've seen there is not a lot being talked about this game on Era, is there a specific reason for that? So Era, what were your experiences with the trilogy and have you enjoyed the story and the characters of the game? The ending of Metro Exodus had something sad, and I wonder how the series will end in the long run. I've never read the books, but I hope they translated the book to the game well, especially with help of the author Dmitri Gluchowski. The mix between survival horror, post-apocalyptic and supernatural was a pretty good mix. I hope that Artyom will be voiced in the next Metro game, if there will be ever be one. I enjoyed all of the three games, and how the characters are written.Īnd that in the third game you had a whole squad of your best friends as Spartans. To get the good endings was also not very on the clear at the first side, only Kahn giving your hints, that you should take care and don't kill everything in your way. I know the game plays in Russia, but 4A Games being a Ukrainian developer and because of the whole world crisis at the moment I went with Ukrainian. ![]() I played the game with Ukrainian voices, to have it more authentic. I really enjoyed my time with them and I am pretty happy that there are first-person games out there who have their focus entirely on the story. Just had some time to complete all of the three Metro games on PC. ![]()
