With a core of Jackson, McCaffrey, Jones, Dobbins, and Jacobs this team has a three-to-four year window as a contender. And it's a good idea to talk about strategy if you find yourself in a similar situation. After taking Noah Fant in Round 6, I pretty much just drafted receivers the rest of the draft. And there was no receiver available in Round 5 I thought would be as impactful as Lamar Jackson. But I didn't have that hindsight at the time. And it's easy to look back now and say "if I'd known Josh Jacobs would be there at pick 48, I would have passed on J.K. My first two picks, Christian McCaffrey and Aaron Jones were no-brainers. But I'm an even bigger proponent of not entering a draft with a set strategy, which is how I somehow went six rounds in our first post-draft Dynasty mock without drafting a wide receiver. They have far more longevity than running backs and they aren't as injury prone on a yearly basis. Something near that would make Tannehill a nice value in superflex and 2-QB formats. In the past my rankings and mock drafts have always slanted heavily towards wide receivers early in Dynasty. But he finished each of the previous three years among the top 16 QBs in fantasy points per game. You can tell by our superflex rankings that we're not expecting a high-impact season from Tannehill. His competition is a second-round rookie (Will Levis) and second-year player who stunk as a rookie (Malik Willis). Tannehill now heads into his age-35 season with a cap hit near $37 million and almost $19 million in dead cap if Tennessee were to move on. That followed rankings of 10th, seventh and third. And Tannehill ranked a decent 18th in Pro Football Focus passing grade among 43 QBs with 150+ dropbacks. His 1.8% TD rate was the second-lowest of his career. His 4.0% TD rate was below league average for starters but matched his 2021 number. His 65.2% completion rate remained in line with his career rate (64.3%). When on the field, though, he played fine. Hurting his right ankle twice led to two stretches of missed games. Titans QB Ryan Tannehill endured a rough 2022. See where we have him slated in our current RB rankings. We project a major workload for Sanders in 2023, though his ceiling will depend on how many scoring opportunities the Panthers' offense will have with a rookie QB at the helm. Chuba Hubbard logged just 6.3 carries and 0.9 targets per game in 2022 following the Christian McCaffrey trade, and Raheem Blackshear and Spencer Brown combined for 44 touches in last year’s Panthers backfield. And on third down, when he has to block, he’s a willing blocker.” There isn't a ton of competition behind Sanders, either. "He’s explosive, he’s fast, and he has good vision and patience. “Miles is a three-down back, and he can do a little bit of everything," said Reich during OTAs. HC Frank Reich and company want Sanders to be their feature back, and they place a lot of faith in his abilities to shoulder large responsibilities. The Panthers gave Sanders the biggest RB contract in free agency by total money ($25 million), guaranteed money ($13 million), and average annual salary ($6.25 million). Panthers RB Miles Sanders is in a strong situation to provide fantasy value this year.
